NON-IMMIGRANT 
VISAS

Businesses are allowed to petition for foreign nationals for specific jobs on a temporary basis. There are more than 20 types of temporary work visas, including:

• E visas for traders and investors

• H visas for various categories of employees

• I visas for media representatives

• L visas for company transferees

These classifications vary with regard to eligibility requirements, duration, and whether recipients are able to bring dependents.

Generally, recipients must return to their home countries when the visa expires or employment ends. However, in some circumstances it may be possible for an employer to sponsor a worker for permanent employment.
