B Visas

B-1 visas are for persons who want to enter the U.S. short-term for business purposes. Such activities might include consulting with business associates, attending a conference, buying supplies, or negotiating a contract.

B-2 visas are for persons who want to enter the U.S. short-term for tourism purposes. Such activities might include vacationing, visiting friends or family, seeking medical treatment, participating in social or amateur sporting events, or enrolling in a recreational study course not toward a degree.

B-1 and B-2 visas may be combined.

Activities prohibited while on a B visa include study, employment, paid performances and permanent residence.
